Ayurvedic prenatal and postpartum care.
In the Ayurvedic tradition, the preparation of the parents, body, mind, and consciousness, is the first and most lasting gift given to a soul. This passage is called Prasava, the sacred journey of bringing forth life, and it is understood as one of the most significant events in a human life. Ayurveda gives this wisdom its practical form through nutrition, herbs, daily rhythms, and physical care.
We walk alongside expecting parents through the natural and home birth journey, offering guidance, preparation, ceremony, and continuing support into the recovery window.
Before Birth: Preparation
- Ayurvedic nutritional guidelines through first, second, and third trimester.
- Yoga practise to support the body and soften the pelvic floor for birth.
- Practise the breath, massage, and other techniques that will carry you through labour, building muscle memory in a calm setting so they are available to you in the intensity of birth.
- Ceremonies to honour the sacredness of the natural birth journey and blessings for the chosen path ahead.
- Guidance on how to create your sensory environment: lighting, oils, music, and/or sacred objects, and your nourishment station for labour.
- Support to clarify the birth plan with your doula or midwife and ensure all logistics, including the birth pool (usually midwife’s responsibility) and Placenta storage, are understood and prepared.
Ancient ways of knowing
Ayurveda honours the mother as a sacred vessel, the father as a steady grounding presence, and the child as a conscious being from the very beginning.
